Mabilog showing off ‘White Mansion’ in November 2016
Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog showed off his home as early as November 2016 to counter reports that his wealth came from illegal activities.
According to Lei Alviz's report on "24 Oras", Mabilog said the house wasn't palatial as President Rodrigo Duterte described it.
However, the house, dubbed in the city as "White Mansion", had three floors and glass panels in some parts.
Former city administrator Manuel Mejorada pegged the cost of the house at P100 million but Mabilog claimed his family only spent P8 million to build it.
Mabilog said the house was built from business earnings, including those of his wife who was a part-owner of an engineering firm abroad.
Members of the National Bureau of Investigation have visited the property.
The Mabilog family appeared to cooperate.
"I know for myself na hindi kami involved sa illegal drugs... We just have to put our trust in the rule of law and faith in God. We just love to serve the public and the people of Iloilo," the mayor's brother, James Victor Mabilog, said. —NB, GMA News
