Aguirre orders NBI to probe death of Carl Angelo’s 14-yr-old companion
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II on Wednesday directed the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to look into the death of Reynaldo de Guzman, the 14-year-old companion of Carl Angelo Arnaiz, who was killed by Caloocan City policemen in an operation last month.
Aguirre also tasked the NBI to file appropriate charges against the perpetrators of the crime, according to Department Order 581 released by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
It was learned that an NBI team had already been dispatched to Gapan, Nueva Ecija, where De Guzman's body was found, to conduct the probe.
De Guzman, also known as Kulot, was found floating at a creek in Gapan and bore 30 stab wounds on his body.
Just last Monday, Aguirre had ordered the NBI to locate the then missing De Guzman.
De Guzman was the last person seen with Arnaiz on the night of August 17 before the 19-year-old student was killed in Caloocan after he allegedly shot it out with policemen who had accosted him for robbing a taxi driver.
Police said Arnaiz fought it out to elude apprehension for robbing taxi driver Tomas Bagcal on C3 Road in Caloocan City, an allegation that the Public Attorney's Office refuted by coming up with its forensic examination on the teenager's remains.
Arnaiz was laid to rest on Tuesday at a Pateros cemetery. — MDM, GMA News
