Alleged narco protector Mabilog’s trip abroad maybe extended

Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog's trip abroad maybe extended for his scheduled travel to Malaysia from Japan where he participated in a seminar on disaster response.

Mabilog, who is on President Rodrigo Duterte's narco list, has been accused of being a protector of illegal drug trade in Western Visayas.

Citing information from the city office, GMA News Iloilo stringer Rudjemar Sucaldito reported that Mabilog will go straight to Malaysia after his four-day trip to Japan, as stated in a foreign travel authority from the Department of the Interior and  Local Government.

Furthermore, the travel authority, supposedly signed by the Interior secretary, stated that Mabilog will be in Malaysia from September 7 to 9, 2017 for the Environmental Urban Accord Summit.

Last August 30, Mabilog flew to Japan, coincidentally two days after President Duterte asked controversial  Ozamiz City's Police Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido if the mayor would still live longer if the police officer were to be transferred to Iloilo City.

Espenido was the police chief of Albuera, Leyte when suspected shabu drug lord Mayor Rolando Espinosa was killed in a police action inside his detention cell.

Also, he was police chief of Ozamiz City when alleged drug lord Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog and six others, including his wife and brother, were killed in a police drug raid.

Mabilog is supposed to be out of his city from August 31 to September 3 for his trip to Japan.

However, the Iloilo City office did not indicate whether Mayor Mabilog has filed a leave of absence for his trip to Malaysia from September 4 to 9. —LBG, GMA News
