PHIVOLCS cancels sea-level change warning after Mexico earthquake
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has cancelled its sea-level change monitoring following the magnitude-8.4 earthquake that hit off the coast of Chiapas, Mexico.
In an advisory issued on Thursday at 3:29 p.m., the state seismologists said that there is "no destructive threat to the Philippines associated with this event."

No evacuation order was recommended, PHIVOLCS said.
It also advised coastal communities fronting the Pacific Ocean to "wait and listen for updates" as they monitor sea-level changes along the Pacific.
The earthquake that struck off Mexico's southern coast (Thursday US time) was said to be the strongest earthquake to hit the country since a devastating 1985 tremor that toppled buildings and killed thousands.
