Sereno names son of ex-SC justice Isagani Cruz as spokesperson in impeachment proceedings
Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno has tapped a son of the late Supreme Court Justice Isagani Cruz as spokesperson in the impeachment proceedings against her.
Sereno named Carlo Cruz, a lawyer since 1983 who has built a career as an academic and author of books on the Philippine Constitution, Philippine Administrative Law, and the Law of Public Officers.
Cruz, whose father served in the high court from 1986 to 1994, graduated cum laude from the San Beda College of Law in 1982.
He has taught political law, constitutional law, administrative law and the law of public officers at the University of Sto. Tomas Faculty of Civil Law, the San Beda College of Law, and the University of the Philippines College of Law.
Cruz was also a bar review lecturer and a lecturer of the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education at several review centers and law schools.
He was an associate at the Belo Ermitano Abiera law firm from 1983 to 1986, and a partner in Belo Abiera & Associates firm from 1987 to 1993.
In 1993, he became a founding partner at the law firm of Cruz Cruz & Navarro III, where he also served as managing partner from 1993 to 1998, and December 2007 to March 2012.
He is the collaborating counsel to Cruz Law Office since April 2012. —KG, GMA News
