New houses in Calamba, Laguna await 70 families victimized by Maring

About 70 families who lost their homes due to Tropical Storm Maring have been given new houses in Calamba City, Laguna, a report on Unang Balita said Friday.

According to the report, the housing project located at Barangay Banlic in Calamba consists of about 1,300 houses that will be turned over to the victims.

Residents were excited to occupy the houses, each of them cleaning the new home prior to moving in, the report said.

The residents expressed delight over the fact that their new homes were made of concrete and situated far from the lake.

Before exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Wednesday, Tropical Storm Maring took the lives of five people in Luzon while six others are still missing, the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council confirmed on a report on Wednesday. — Akari Nakano/MDM/KVD, GMA News
