Kilo of shabu concealed in guitar amp, seized at NAIA

Customs officials have seized a kilo of shabu worth P5 million concealed in a guitar amplifier at the FedEx warehouse in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Major Jaybee Raul Cometa of the Xray Inspection Project (XIP) said in a statement on Friday that the shipment was intercepted after it displayed irregularity in the xray monitor of the FedEx warehouse.

A plastic wrapper containing the illegal drugs was found concealed in the shipment inspected by Customs examiners in the presence of Agents from the Customs Anti-Illegal Drug Task Force (CAIDTF) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-NAIA.

The shipment exported by a Che Che Cruz of Philippine Electronics from New Zaniga, Mandaluyong was consigned to a Jerry Yu allegedly from Shenton Avenue, Banktown, Sidney, Australia.

CAIDTF turned the substance over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency on Wednesday after identification and are now conducting an investigation with the agency to catch the drug suspects. —Rie Takumi/NB, GMA News
