Forensic exam shows body found at Bulacan garbage dump belonged to Michael Angelo Remecio —PAO
The Public Attorney's Office (PAO) on Saturday has confirmed that the body found at a garbage dump in Bulacan belonged to missing 16-year-old Michael Angelo Remecio.
A report by Vonne Aquino in Balitanghali said the PAO had conducted a forensic analysis on the remains discovered in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.
Remecio's parents believed that the body was their son because of the teenager's clothes.
Having it confirmed was a relief, Remecio's father said.
"Medyo nakapagaan ng loob ko dahil nakasigurado ako na anak ko talaga ang namatay na yun," Dionisio Remecio said.
However, Remecio's mother became emotional upon hearing the news.
"Patawad Michael, wala akong nagawa sayo," she was heard saying.
Remecio left his home on August 25 on a tricycle which he drives for a living in their area at Barangay 176, Bagong Silang, Caloocan City.
But the 16-year-old never returned.
Remecio's family and friends are still at a loss as to who killed him and what the motive was behind it.
The teen's father said his son was being bullied in school, and was being pressured to join a fraternity.
"Ayaw na niyang pumasok kasi binu-bully siya. Pinipilit din siyang pumasok yata sa fraternity. Parang pine-pressure siya," he said.
One of Remecio's two girlfriends said that it seemed he knew that something might happen to him.
When he last spoke to her on August 28, Remecio told her to take care of herself.
"Ingatan ko daw sarili ko, 'wag ko daw papabayaan. Parang mawawala siya," she said.
Remecio will be buried at Tala Cemetery in Caloocan City on Sunday. — Jessica Bartolome/MDM, GMA News
