Bato wants Davao, GenSan, Cotabato cops to replace sacked Caloocan cops

Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa said Tuesday he has asked not only the members of Davao police to be transferred to Caloocan, but also his men in General Santos and Cotabato.

“Naghahanap ako kung sino ang gustong mag-volunteer na pulis-Davao, ilipat ko sa Caloocan. Pati sa General Santos, nag-announce ako sa Police Service Anniversary (program) nila sino doon ang gustong mag-volunteer,” Dela Rosa told GMA News Online in an interview before the Senate hearing on the 2018 budget of Department of Interior and Local Government.

National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Oscar Albayalde earlier said the entire personnel of the Caloocan City Police district would be relieved from their posts following the deaths of Kian Loyd delos Santos and Carl Angelo Arnaiz and the raid on a house without search warrant.

Dela Rosa expressed confidence on the quality of the police officers from Regions 11 and 12. Dela Rosa served as chief of the Davao City Police Office during the term of then Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

“Alam ko ‘yung mga pulis sa Cotabato, General Santos, Davao  (ay maayos magtrabaho). Alam ko ang standard ng pamulis doon. Sigurado ako na pag pulis-Davao maganda ang upbringing, matino na pulis," he said.

He said he wanted the Caloocan residents to have a taste of quality police service from Davao where he came from.

"Patikimin natin ‘yung mga tao ng Caloocan ng standard na pamulis ng Davao. I'm confident dahil doon ako lumaki, 'yun ang alam kong pamulis,” he added.

He said he was still waiting for at least 1,000 volunteers.

“Kung makakuha ako ng 1,000 na policemen from Davao Region, ipalit ko doon sa buong Caloocan mas maganda,” he said.

And if he fails to get any volunteers, Dela Rosa said he would issue an order for such.

“Naghihintay pa ako ng boluntaryo na magpa-assign dito at magpa-issue ako ng order para doon,” he said.

Asked how the police officers in Regions 11 and 12 reacted to his announcement, Dela Rosa said the police officers were elated.

“They felt na na-recognize ko yung kanilang brand ng pagseserbisyo, masaya sila,” he said. — MDM, GMA News
