Lacson mocks Faeldon: Yes, I’m obsessed...in proving you’re corrupt
Senator Panfilo Lacson on Monday hit back at former Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon for saying that he is “obsessed” in “destroying” the latter.
“I’m really obsessed because he’s been challenging me – I’m really obsessed to pinning him down and to prove he’s involved in corruption. He said it right,” Lacson told reporters in an interview.
Lacson said this after Faeldon accused the senator of being bent in destroying his reputation. According to Faeldon, Lacson has consistently spoken out against him after he alleged that the senator’s son, Pampi, is involved in cement smuggling.
“I think Senator Lacson has become so obsessed of me already...As early as 2016, when I investigated the shipment of his son, yung smuggling ng semento, dito na lumabas yung obsession niya to destroy me,” Faeldon said.
Faeldon is being accused of receiving “tara” or bribes. Faeldon reiterated that he never received such during his stint at the Bureau of Customs (BOC).
“I never denied that there is tara. I believe there is; but saying that I’m part of it, that’s really bullshit,” Faeldon said as he dared Lacson to come out with evidence that will prove his “lies.”
Responding to Faeldon’s statement, Lacson said: “Bullshit din siya. Siya nga yung nasa center ng tara eh.”
In a privilege speech last month, Lacson revealed the alleged corruption at the BOC, accusing the agency’s officials, including Faeldon, of receiving bribes.
“It’s only him na nabanggit sa listahan na nagcha-challenge pa, saksakan ng yabang, saksakan ng ipokrito. And I’ll give it to him. I’m really obsessed,” Lacson said.
“I’m analyzing documents, I’m gathering documents and evidence to really file as many cases I can file…He should not challenge me because I have the capability to gather evidence. I have been an investigator all my life,” he added.
Lacson is set to file graft and economic sabotage charges against Faeldon before the Ombudsman on Thursday for allegedly ordering the release of smuggled rice. — RSJ, GMA News
