'Ineng' stationary but more rains expected

Tropical storm "Ineng" remained almost stationary even as state weather forecasters predicted more rains brought about by the enhanced southwest monsoon. In its 5 a.m. advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said "Ineng" was 810 kms east of Northern Luzon as of 2 a.m. Pag-asa said "Ineng" packed maximum winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph, and is expected to remain "almost stationary." Luzon and Visayas will experience monsoon rains becoming frequent over the western sections. The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over the western sections of Luzon and Visayas and coming from the east and northeast over Extreme Northern Luzon with moderate to rough seas. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate blowing from the southwest and the coastal waters along these areas will be slight to moderate. "Ineng" was classified as a tropical depression around 12 noon on Oct. 1. Hours later, at around 5 p.m., it was monitored to have intensified and classified as a tropical storm. - GMANews.TV
