Transport officials conduct dry run for ASEAN Summit

Transport officials on Sunday conducted a dry run for the upcoming Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Manila from November 10 to 14.

According to a report by Steve Dailisan on GMA News' "Balitanghali" on Sunday, officials of the Presidential Security Group, the Highway Patrol Group, and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority conducted the dry run from Clark International Airport to the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX).

The dry run began past 6:00 a.m., and was estimated to take a total of 1.5 hours.

"Unang una, humihingi kami ng paumanhin sa ating mga kababayan dahil dito sa mga abala or istorbo na gagawin during the dry run," MMDA Special Operations Officer Manny Miro said in the report.

Transport officials will conduct another dry run next week around the Cultural Center of the Philippines, where some events will be hosted, and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

While the MMDA has yet to release its finalized traffic rerouting scheme, it said it has already recommended that the government declare November 13, 14, and 15 non-working holidays to ease the traffic situation in Metro Manila. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA News
