Duterte appoints ex-SC justice Jose Mendoza to JBC

President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed his fraternity brother, retired Supreme Court Justice Jose Mendoza, to the Judicial and Bar Council.

To recall, Mendoza's nomination was submitted by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea to Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno on October 4.

Mendoza is the second Lex Talionis member appointed by Duterte to the JBC. Last year, he appointed Toribio Elises Ilao Jr.  to the multi-sectoral body that screens nominees to the judicial branch, the Office of the Ombudsman, and its deputies. All studied at the San Beda College of Law.
