PNP on full alert from Nov. 8 to 15 for ASEAN Summit

The Philippine National Police will be on full alert status from November 8 to 15 for the upcoming Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit, PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa said Monday.

“Full alert status tayo from November 8 to 15. Seven days iyan na walang uwian. We will be deployed sa EDSA. Walang exempted,” dela Rosa said during the PNP flag ceremony.

He said they will be activating the Reserved Standby Security Force of the national headquarters to augment the personnel detailed at the ASEAN Task Force.

Dela Rosa said this was after the regional police offices requested that the 1,200 personnel they are ordered to send be reduced to 300.

“Imbes na ang ipadala ay 1,200, ang kaya lang ipadala e 300 sa ASEANTF, e nabawasan. Kung magkulang na iyan, ating i-fill up from RSSF,” he said.

The PNP chief noted that he was the head of the RSSF during the 2016 presidential election but was relieved from his position following his post on Facebook warning those who were planning to cheat then Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

“Ako commander niyan pero tinanggal ako dahil sa post ko sa FB. Natakot sila,” he said jokingly. —KG, GMA News
