Ex-Customs execs Gambala, Maestrecampo appointed to DOTr

President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed to the Department of Transportation two Bureau of Customs officials who resigned after they were accused of receiving bribe money.

Duterte on November 6 appointed former Customs Import Assessment Service Director Milo Maestrecampo as Assistant Director General II of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines and former Deputy Customs Commissioner Gerardo Gambala as Director IV of the Office of the Transportation Security.

Maestrecampo gave his courtesy resignation on August 8.

For his part, Gambala resigned on October 10.

Their resignations came after Customs was rocked by the P6.4 billion shabu shipment from China. The two former Army officers have denied the allegations against them. — Trisha Macas/RSJ, GMA News
