Former constitutional commissioner Ma. Teresa Nieva dies at 94

Ma. Teresa Feria Nieva, a member of the Constitutional Commission (ConCom) that drafted the 1987 Philippine Constitution, passed away at 94 years old last Saturday.
Nieva died "peacefully" at home on December 2 at 2:29 p.m., according to the family's statement released on Tuesday.
Nieva was one of six women commissioners appointed by then-President Corazon Aquino to the ConCom after the 1986 People Power Revolution.
In 1956, Teresa and her husband Antonio Nieva founded the Christian Family Movement (CFM) in the Philippines and served as co-presidents until 1968.
Nieva also played an active role in the elections watchdog group National Citizens’ Movement for Free Elections (NAMFREL).
