Taliño back to SAF as PNP reshuffles 12 ranking police officials


The Philippine National Police (PNP) has reshuffled 12 of its ranking police officials effective Thursday.

Director Noli Taliño will return to his former unit, the Special Action Force (SAF), days before the third anniversary of ill-fated Mamasapano operation which resulted in the death of 44 of their colleagues in Maguindanao.

Taliño, who was promoted to two-star general last Tuesday, was the deputy chief of SAF when the incident happened and later on appointed as SAF officer-in-charge when their then chief, Director Leo Napeñas, was relieved from post.

Taliño will be replaced by Director Cedrick Train at the Directorate for Human Resources, Doctrine and Development who came from the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations-Western Mindanao (DIPO-WM).

Director Noel Constatino, meanwhile, will now be assigned at the DIPO-WM from Directorate for Police Community Relations.

Director Eduardo Garado will replace Constantino at DPCR from DIPO-Southern Luzon. His post will be taken over by Director Benjamin Lusad, who was from SAF.

Chief Superintendent Elmo Sarona from Cordillera police  was assigned to the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management whose chief, Director Augusto Marquez, retired Tuesday.

Chief Superintendent Edward Carranza from the Health Service will be transferred to Cordillera police, while Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Licup from the Directorate for Operations (DO) will be reassigned to Region 4B police whose head, Chief Superintendent Wilben Mayor, will transfer to DO.

Chief Superintendent Robert Quenery from Region 2 police will be reassigned to Region 7 whose current head, Chief Superintendent Jose Mario Espino, will be transferred to Region 10.

Lastly, Chief Superintendent Timoteo Pacleb from Region 10 police will take over the post in Region 2. —KBK, GMA News
