Duterte welcomes surrendering NPA members


President Rodrigo Duterte welcomed two former members of the New People's Army (NPA) who surrendered in Davao City.

According to a report on GMA's "24 Oras Weekend" on Sunday, Duterte welcomed the two individuals and committed that they will be protected by the government.

They will also be provided with several forms of assistance such as housing, financial assistance, and food packs. They will also be given smartphones.

According to the report, Duterte said that he hopes for peace in the country, and that national security is his top priority for the Philippines.
