PMA Alumni Assoc adopts business tycoon Enrique Razon

BAGUIO CITY — The Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association Inc. (PMAAAI) has adopted business tycoon Enrique Razon as one of its board of directors.

Razon, who chairs the International Container Terminal Services Inc. and
Solaire Casino Casino and Resort operator and developer Bloomberry Resorts Corporation, is the 2018 PMA Alumni Homecoming guest of honor and speaker.

The PMAAAI board of directors approved his honorary membership unanimously.

Razon, an adopted member of the Marangal Class of 1988, had donated two cadet barracks to the academy and had also extended aid to government forces in Marawi City.

During his speech at the PMA Alumni Homecoming, Razon expressed gratitude to the PMA Makatao Class of 1989 and the PMA Class of 1968 for allowing him to join their ranks.

He said the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police have “provided stability and continuity to our democracy, and has slowly evolved into an apolitical institution.”

“Over the decades, the AFP has matured into the backbone and foundation for which we are now able to develop and grow our economy and be more competitive in the global marketplace. II think we can all agree that the country is in a much better position today than we were in just 10 years ago,” Razon said.

The port magnate which has an estimated net worth of $5 billion, according to Forbes, said the country "continues to face challenges and dangers from within and without."

"The growing and real threat of terrorism was driven by the recent battle in Marawi. The terrorists were defeated in the battle field by the AFP, but this is not just a problem for the AFP. It is a problem for all of us, and we need to do what we can do to support the Armed Forces in battling terrorism in all its forms," Razon said.

"We have many challenges on nearly every front, and many of us in business are doing what we know best to contribute to nation building – by investing, helping grow the economy, increasing employment, which logically should go a long way in reducing poverty and crime," he added.

"Add all of these forces working together, and we have the building blocks for a great nation. I can only hope that at some point, our politics will also mature, and our laws apply to all and not just used against political opponents by one administration after another," Razon further said. — MDM/ALG, GMA News
