Consultative committee meets to discuss 1987 Constitution amendments

The Consultative Committee to Review the 1987 Constitution met for the first time on Monday.

Former senator Nene Pimentel, a member of the committee, noted that the committee is supposed to have 25 members but only 19 have been named.

He suggested that more women and representatives of indigenous peoples be appointed.

The committee is expected to submit its first proposed draft to President Rodrigo Duterte on July 9, 2018.
