33 solons who voted to approve impeachment articles vs. Sereno

Thirty-three members of the House Committee on Justice on Monday voted to approve the committee report and the articles of impeachment against Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

The House panel prepared six articles of impeachment against Sereno, composed of grounds including culpable violation of the Constitution, corruption, betrayal of public trust and other high crimes.

Of the 27 allegations lodged by complainant lawyer Lorenzo "Larry" Gadon against Sereno, 24 were included in the articles of impeachment.

Only Quezon City 6th District Representative Jose Christopher "Kit" Belmonte voted against the approval of the recommendations.

The lawmakers who voted for the approval of the committee report and the articles of impeachment are:

The committee report and the articles of impeachment will be transmitted to the House Committee on Rules, which will calendar the panel's recommendations for voting in the plenary.

These articles of impeachment must be approved by at least one-third of all members of the House of Representatives before it is transmitted to the Senate, which will act as an impeachment court. —JST, GMA News
