PNP chief's son, Rock dela Rosa, not involved in PNPA mauling —NAPOLCOM official
A National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) official on Monday said the son of Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa was not involved in the mauling case at the PNP Academy last week.
"Wala. Oo, hindi naman. Walang involvement siya," NAPOLCOM Vice Chairman and Executive Officer Rogelio Casurao said in an ambush interview.
Rock, son of the country's top cop, is part of the 211-strong PNPA Class of 2019.
Several members of the class are under investigation for their involvement in the mauling of six members of the PNPA Maragtas Class of 2018, their upperclassmen, after the graduation rites last week.
PNPA director Chief Superintendent Joseph Adnol said 41 members of the underclass are being probed due to the mauling incident.
Adnol said they have identified nine cadets involved in the mauling incident.
Two of the mauled Maragtas Class members have filed criminal complaints against their underclassmen.
During the interview Casurao said the cadets who will be found guilty in the mauling case should be dismissed from the Academy.
"Well ang mga kadete niyan, they have no reason to continue with their training, they have to be dismissed from the cadetship, kasi masyadong mabigat, serious itong mga ginawa nila so at least this very early stage, dapat hindi na ipagpatuloy sila," he said.
Casurao said the mauling incident could be "part of their (PNPA) culture, but we cannot discount the possibility that there could be other reason for doing it."
He said that aside from criminal charges, the cadets involved are also facing administrative liabilities.
Adnol said the six Maragtas Class members were mauled by their underclassmen right after the graduation rites attended by President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday last week.
The incident occurred between 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on March 21 when the upperclassmen went back to their barracks to pack up after the graduation rites.
Adnol said the underclassmen hit the six graduates with rattan sticks and rocks. —ALG, GMA News
