UST, San Beda produce most number of passers in bar exam’s Top 20
The University of Santo Tomas (UST) and the San Beda College accounted for the most number of graduates among the top 20 passers in the 2017 bar examinations.
UST and San Beda each had five of their own in the top 20.
Three UST alumni figured in the top 10 while two others placed in the next 10.
Lorenzo Luigi Gayya, Klinton Torralba, and Emma Ruby Aguilar placed 6th, 9th, and 10th, respectively, while Arman Joseph Guzman and Aecaya Christine Calero secured the 13th and 18th spots.
San Beda taught law to Monica Anne Yap, Algie Kwillon Mariacos, Lyan David Juanico, Lougenia Cariño, and Eileen Carla Carpio, who placed 5th, 8th, 11th, 12th, and 16th, respectively.
University of St. La Salle's Mark John Simondo topped the examinations with a rating of 91.05 percent.
For its part, the University of San Carlos trained three top-scorers: 2nd placer Christianne Mae Balili, 4th placer Ivanne D'laureil Hisoler, and 7th placer Rheland Servacio.
A USC alumna, Karen Mae Calam, scored the highest in the 2016 Bar exam.
One top-performing Bar passer each came from the following Metro Manila universities: the Ateneo de Manila University, the University of the Philippines, and the Jose Rizal University.
One high-scorer each also came from the University of San Jose Recoletos, the University of Cebu, the Ateneo de Davao University, the Xavier University in Cagayan, the St. Mary's University in Nueva Ecija and the Saint Louis University in Baguio.
A total of 1,724 examinees passed last year's Bar exam, making for 25.55 percent of the 6,724 individuals who took a shot at the four-Sunday test held at the UST in November.
The successful Bar candidates will take their oath on June 1 at the Philippine International Convention Center. —NB, GMA News
