Cynthia Villar remains richest senator, Trillanes poorest
Senator Cynthia Villar remains to be the richest member of the Senate, followed by ‘Pambansang Kamao' Senator Manny Pacquiao, based on their 2017 statement of assets, liabilities and net worth released Thursday.
Villar’s net worth increased by P5.2 million from P3,606,034,556 in 2016 to P3,611,260,766 in 2017 while Pacquiao’s went down by P126 million from P3,072,315,030 to P2,946,315,029.93 in 2017.

Senator Ralph Recto came in as the third richest senator with a net worth of P538,889 million while Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri is in fourth with a net worth of P152 million, dislodging Senator Juan Edgardo "Sonny" Angara who is now ranked fifth with a net worth of P131,765,860.
Senator Antonio Trillanes was also the poorest senator with P6,871,743.64 net worth in 2017. He was, however, P365,071.51 richer than last year 2016 when he posted P6,506,672.13 net worth.
The second poorest is detained Senator Leila de Lima with a net worth of P7.9 million while the third is Senator Francis Escudero with a net worth of P8.5 million.
Senate President Aquilino Pimentel is the 18th richest senator with a net worth of P18.11 million while Majority Leader Vicente Sotto III is in the 11th place with P64.7 million.
Based on the SALN, Pacquiao reported the biggest decrease in net worth followed by Senator Sherwin Gatchalian who went down by P3.9 million from P92,141,701.14 in 2016 to P88,226,485.77 in 2017, and Senator Panfilo Lacson whose net worth decreased by P2.4 million from P38,703,615 in 2016 to P36,305,440.90 in 2017.
Senator JV Ejercito’s net worth also decreased by P177,151 while Senator Risa Hontiveros’ went down by 136,287.
The biggest gainer is Zubiri with an increase of P30 million followed by Recto whose net worth went up by P16 million, and Minority Leader Franklin Drilon who is now richer by 11 million. —KG, GMA News
