125,000 jobs up for grabs in nationwide Independence Day job fairs —DOLE

Some 125,000 jobs will be up for grabs at the job and business fairs to be conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) as part of the country's Independence Day celebrations.

The simultaneous job fairs dubbed Independence Day Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK) will be held on June 12 and 15 in 21 sites across the country and will have options for local and overseas employment.

Labor Undersecretary Jacinto Paras assured jobseekers that none of the 621 participating employers (501 local and 120 overseas) are on their list of end of contract or "endo" violators or offer labor-only contracting.

"We saw to it na walang kasama po dun. Ito po, lahat [ng] employers ay legitimate. They have not been part of whatever identification made by our inspectors," he said at a press briefing on Wednesday.

Wages will vary per job in the TNK fairs that Bureau of Local Employment Director Dominique Tutay believes will draw at least 30,000 to 50,000 jobseekers.

"There is available work in the market and those who seek employment or further employment puwede po silang pumunta ng job fair po natin," Tutay said.

"The matter of placing them kapag sila po ay nag-apply, siyempre po depende sa qualifications nila na ipe-present doon sa employer who makes decision whether or not to employ them," she added.

Local employers are offering the most vacancies to:
