Armed men carjack SUV of Tanya Garcia's brother

At least three “rich-looking" armed men carjacked a new sport utility vehicle (SUV) belonging to a brother of actress Tanya Garcia in Pasig City before dawn Wednesday. The men shot the driver of the white Nissan X-Trail (ZGW-211) owned by businessman Patrick Lyttle, brother of actress Tanya Garcia (Tanya Katherine Lyttle in real life). “Mukhang maykaya ang mga carjacker. Sasakyan ang target. Ang sabi sa kanya ibigay ang susi. Pumalag siya, binaril siya, kinuha ang susi," Patrick said in an interview on dzBB radio. (My driver said the carjackers were wealthy-looking and were targeting the vehicle. They told him to hand over the keys. When he tried to fight back, they shot him then took the keys.) Now confined at the San Juan Medical Center is Lester Cruz, driver of the SUV. Cruz sustained a gunshot wound in the shoulder. The carjacking took place amid the full-alert status of the Philippine National Police in Metro Manila following last Friday’s deadly blast at Glorietta 2 in Makati City. Lyttle said he instructed Cruz to make a withdrawal from an automated teller machine (ATM) in Pasig City shortly before the carjacking incident. Just as Cruz was about to leave, the three men, supposedly waited nearby, then approached and told him to hand over to them the keys to the X-Trail. “Nakabalik siya sa amin naka-taxi pa siya. Sabi niya nabaril siya kaya dinala namin sa hospital (Cruz managed to make it back to our house in a taxi. He told us he was shot, so we rushed him to the hospital)," Lyttle said. “Nagpatay-patayan siya kaya iniwan siya. Kinuha pa ang susi sa kamay (Cruz played dead so the attackers would leave him alone. They took the keys from his hand before making off with the SUV)," he added. Lyttle said Cruz told him there were no police patrol teams present in the area when he was accosted. The only sign of “authority" was a security guard near the ATM branch. - GMANews.TV
