Towing company raided for illegal towing of cars along SLEX

An inter-agency group has raided the compound of an unaccredited towing company that illegally tows cars along the South Luzon Expressway.

Mao dela Cruz reported on Wednesday on Super Radyo dzBB that the MMDA has been monitoring the tow company that had illegally operated along the President Sergio Osmeña Sr. Highway segment of the expressway for a long time.

"Meron po tayong insidente na isang truck nasa loob na ng gasolinahan, itinow pa rin tapos sinapak pa yung driver ng truck," said MMDA Special Operations Group head Bong Nebrija.

"Natsempuhan namin sila, meron pong mga truck dito sa Osmeña na sinisingil na ng P5,000 to P11,500," he added.

Nebrija said they will investigate the owners of the company after they confiscate the trucks used by the towing company.

One of the victims said the towing company charged him P10,000 to P11,500 when it took his stalled truck after he parked it to have it fixed. He was not issued a ticket but was forced to give his license and key.

Personnel of the MMDA, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), and Traffic Management Group were part of the group that carried out the operation. — Rie Takumi/MDM, GMA News
