SC decision ousting Sereno now in Book of Entries of Judgments


The Supreme Court's decision ousting Maria Lourdes Sereno from the post of chief justice been entered in official court records.

The Entry of Judgment certification was signed by Basilia T. Ringol, deputy clerk of court and chief of the Judicial Records Office.

"This is to certify that on May 11, 2018, a decision rendered in the above-entitled case was filed in this Office," the document read.

It also bore the dispositive part of the decision which said that the petition for quo warranto was granted and that the court found Sereno "DISQUALIFIED from and is hereby adjudged GUILTY of UNLAWFULLY HOLDING and EXERCISING the OFFICE OF THE CHIEF JUSTICE. Accordingly, Respondent Maria Lourdes P. A. Sereno is OUSTED and EXCLUDED therefrom."

The document also stated that the decision became final and executory on June 19, 2018 and has been entered in the Book of Entries of Judgments.

 


On June 19, in a vote of 8-6, the SC denied Sereno's motion for reconsideration that sought the reversal of the granting of the challenge to her eligibility to occupy the coveted top judge post filed by Solicitor General Jose Calida. —KG, GMA News
