PHLPost launches rush postal ID project at MCPO

The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) has launched its "Rush Postal ID (PID)"system at the Manila Central Post Office (MCPO).

In a statement, the PHLPost described the Rush Postal ID system as a same-day or next-day release of the PID card to be picked up by the applicant at the MCPO.

Applicants will need to bring a proof of identity and proof of address, then pay a VAT inclusive fee of P650.00 at the MCPO in Lawton from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. to get the PID on the same day.

However, applicants captured between 8:31 a.m. to 11 a.m. may get their PIDs the next working day.

The PHLPost had a successful first day for the project, with 33 rush applications out of the 91 total capture at the MCPO alone. All Rush PIDs were released between 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Steve Bryan Felizar Malla, the first applicant of the newest Rush PID, expressed satisfaction over the new service, saying it would benefit those with an immediate need for a valid government ID.

“This is very convenient for me who needs an urgent valid government ID,” said Malla, who needed a valid ID for a bank transaction.

The Rush PID is currently only available at the MCPO.

The PHLPost is still making efforts to accommodate PID customers at other branches.

Meanwhile, there are no changes in the processing for a regular PID.

Applicants can still avail it at P504.00. — Maia Tria/MDM, GMA news
