Duterte says he was not the only victim of priest misconduct at school
President Rodrigo Duterte shed more light on the abuse he said he suffered at the hands of a priest or priests during high school.
In his speech during the celebration of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources' anniversary on Wednesday, Duterte said that he wasn't the only victim of abuse all those years ago, a report by Joseph Morong in QRT said on Thursday.
"Lahat kami. Lalo na si Dominguez kay Tisoy. Pula-pula yan pagkatapos, paglabas ng confessional," he said.
While the President did not specify who "Dominguez" was, he was classmates with Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III in Ateneo de Davao.
Dominguez has yet to comment on Duterte's remarks.
As a presidential candidate in 2015, Duterte said that he and other minors had been abused at Ateneo de Davao, where he attended high school.
Ateneo de Davao asked the then-mayor to put his allegations in writing.
Duterte has recently been criticized for his scathing remarks about the Catholic Church and accounts and teachings in the Bible.
He is set to meet with Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines head Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles next week, as agreed upon during last Friday's meeting between Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque and Papal Nuncio in the Philippines Archbishop Gabriel Giordano Caccia. — Jessica Bartolome/BM, GMA News
