'Walk to freedom' to kick off Estrada's return to San Juan
A symbolic walk to freedom and a mini-motorcade will kick off pardoned former President Joseph Estrada's return to his home in San Juan City, an aide of the deposed President on Friday said. Ferdinand Ramos, Estrada's media liaison officer, said once Estrada receives the pardon order from Interior Secretary Ronaldo Puno, Estrada will walk from his rest house and open the gate of the resort to let people know that he is a free man. "Yung symbolic walk to freedom, io-open ang gate of detention resort para malaman ng tao malaya na siya (He will make a symbolic walk to freedom from his detention resort premises to the gate. He wants the people to know he is free)," Ramos said in an interview on dzBB radio. A 10-vehicle motorcade will then follow Estrada's convoy to San Juan City. Ramos said Estrada will immediately head for San Juan Medical Center where his 102-year-old mother Mary is confined, just so he can tell her he is free again. Estrada will also open his mansion at 1 Polk St., North Greenhills to supporters after his return. Meanwhile, Ramos said Estrada will still return to his rest house once in a while, for exercise and to maintain his vegetable and animal reserve. He said Estrada plans to use his small farm at the Tanay rest house, where the former President tended animals and plants throughout his detention. "Babalik-balik siya riyan. Ang detention area naging reserve area sa pagtanim ng gulay at pag-alaga ng hayop. At para maka-exercise siya riyan babalik siya (Estrada will go back to the rest house once in a while. It had become a reserve area for animals and vegetables. Besides, he needs to exercise there too)," Ramos said. - GMANews.TV
