1-PACMAN congressman still richest House member


1-PACMAN party-list Representative Michael Odylon Romero remains the richest lawmaker from the House of Representatives, the summary of the solons' Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) shows.

As of December 31, 2017, Romero had a declared total net worth of P7.29 billion, up by P282 million from his 2016 net worth of P7.009 billion, topping the list of 292 Representatives.

His total assets amounted to P7.328 billion and total liabilities at P37 million.

Here are the 10 representatives with the highest total net worth:

He declared total assets amounting to P96.53 million and had total liabilities of P4.84 million. 

Majority Leader Rodolfo Fariñas, on the other hand, ranked 30th, with a total net worth of P169.98 million, while Minority Leader Danilo Suarez ranked 29th, with a total net worth of P173.11 million.

Meanwhile, still having the least net worth among 292 representatives was Kabataan party-list Representative Sarah Jane Elago, with P75,800.

She declared total assets amounting to P172,552 and total liabilities amounting to P96,752.

Section 8(a) of the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees requires public servants to file their SALN within 30 days after assuming position, on or before April 30 of every following year, and within 30 days after separation from service.

In the SALN, the assets such as land, houses, and cash, liabilities including personal or institutional loans, and the business and financial interests of a government official, his or her spouse and unmarried children under 18 years old still living in the household are declared under oath.
