Mobile services in QC restored after getting suspended for SONA 2018

Mobile services in Quezon City have been restored, after being temporarily suspended by telecommunications companies earlier in the day due to the State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Rodrigo Duterte.

In a text message, Smart Communications Inc. said its services in Quezon City were restored as of 4:30 p.m. on Monday, ahead of the scheduled restoration of 7:00 p.m.

"We have received clearance from the authorities to restore our services. Please restart your mobile device to refresh connection if needed," Smart Spokesperson Ramon Isberto said in a text message.

This was echoed by Globe Telecom Inc. Senior Vice President Yolanda Crisanto who said Globe services have since been restored in Quezon City.

"The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has lifted its directive to temporarily suspend network services in Batasan Complex, Commonwealth Avenue, and Culiat in Quezon City. Globe Telecom has restored all mobile services in the said areas," she said in a separate statement. —NB, GMA News
