CamSur Rep. Andaya is new House majority leader
Camarines Sur Representative Rolando Andaya on Monday was named the new Majority Leader of the House of Representatives.
Andaya's new position was announced during the plenary session of the Lower House, replacing Ilocos Norte Representative Rodolfo Farinas.
Effectively, he will also chair the Committee on Rules which, in the present set-up of the House, is concurrently handled by the Majority Leader.
According to the House rules, the Majority Leader is chosen by the members of the majority, or the lawmakers who voted for the winning candidate for Speaker.
Andaya served as budget secretary during Arroyo's term as president.
Aside from Andaya, also elected Deputy Majority Leader and vice chair of the Committee on Rules SAGIP party-list Representative Rodante Marcoleta.
Meanwhile, Leyte Representative Yedda Marie Romualdez was also elected chair of the Committee on Accounts, replacing Batangas Representative Elenita Ermita-Buhain.
Also named Acting House Secretary General was Dante Roberto Maling and retired General Romeo Prestoza as Sargeant at Arms.
They replaced Atty. Cesar Pareja and retired Lt. Gen. Roland Detabali in the said positions, respectively. —JST, GMA News
