UP extends deadline for UPCAT applicants from NCR public high schools to Aug. 6

The University of the Philippines on Friday extended the deadline it set for applicants for its college entrance examination coming from public high schools in the National Capital Region.

Originally set for August 3, the deadline for submitting applications to the University of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT) for students coming from Metro Manila public high schools has been moved to Monday, August 6.

The Office of Admissions of UP made the announcement after classes in all levels were canceled on  Friday in Quezon City.

Students from private and public high schools in provinces have until Friday, August 10 to submit their applications for the UPCAT.

Applicants from foreign schools may submit their forms also until August 10.

Applications received after August 10 however may only be processed if test permits are still available.

The UPCAT for the next academic year will be held on September 15 to 16, 2018.

UP Vice President for Public Affairs Dr. Jose "Butch" Dalisay Jr. earlier said students may also submit their applications via courier instead of in person.

According to the UP website, UPCAT applications may be submitted to:

UP Office of Admissions, University of the Philippines, 1101 Diliman, Q.C. either in person or through the authorized school (not a bank) representative, or by mail

Selected regional UPCAT application filing centers in: UP Baguio, UP Cebu, UPEP in Pampanga, UP Los Banos, UP Iloilo, UP Tacloban and UP Mindanao.

The last day of filing of applications for the UPCAT for private high school students in NCR drew thousands of students to the Diliman campus on July 30.

In 2017, about 80,000 students took the exam, of whom only about 14,000 were accepted. —KG, GMA News
