Duterte to conduct aerial inspection of flooded areas in Metro Manila, Rizal

President Rodrigo Duterte is set to conduct on Monday afternoon an aerial survey of areas in Metro Manila and Rizal affected by floods brought about by the enhanced southwest monsoon, Malacañang said.

Duterte will check on the affected areas prior to his scheduled events in the presidential palace which included a mass oath-taking of newly-appointed officials and send-off ceremony for the country’s delegates to the Asian Games in Indonesia.

The President was supposed to do the aerial survey on Sunday but it was canceled due to bad weather, according to Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go.

Go said Duterte was in Davao City during the weekend when heavy rains caused severe flooding in many part of Luzon.

The government and other organizations provided affected families with some P120.40 million of assistance, the Palace said.

State weather bureau PAGASA reported Monday that the southwest monsoon, enhanced by Tropical Storm Yagi, would continue to influence the weather conditions in Luzon—thus expect inclement weather throughout the day. —VDS, GMA News
