Philippine Army deploys 240 new lieutenants
The Philippine Army announced that it had deployed 240 newly commissioned 2nd Lieutenants to various field units all over the country.
Among the new officers were 102 male and 37 female graduates of the Philippine Military Academy's “Alab Tala” Class of 2018, 88 male and 12 female graduates of the Officer Candidate School “Adusque” Class 49-17, and a graduate of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst's (RMAS') British Army Commissioning Course 163.
The British Army Commissioning Course's graduate, 2nd Lt. Harold Frugalidad, said he intended to apply the skills he acquired from Sandhurst in Urban Combat Operations training in his command.
Army spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Louie D. Villanueva meanwhile said in a statement that the new lieutenants were fully trained on war fighting and tactical leadership. Thier deployment was timely as ground units had intensified their operations to suppress terrorism and insurgency in the soonest possible time.
“The Philippine Army is consistent in its efforts to build up its force, providing opportunity for anyone, especially the youth., to serve the country through the noble profession of soldiery,” Villanueva emphasized. — DVM, GMA News
