Trillanes fake crusader for military —Duterte
Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is faking concern for the military, President Rodrigo Duterte said Saturday.
In his arrival speech at the Davao City Airport from his trip to Jordan, Duterte debunked Trillanes' remarks that he is pitting members of the Armed Forces against each other for his selfish interests.
"Trillanes is pretending to be a crusading soldier when, as a matter of fact, wala naman silang ginawa. Tingnan mo, sa panahon ni Volts [former Defense chief Voltaire Gazmin], nan diyan si Trillanes, nagka-increase ba ang sweldo ang sundalo maski na five percent?" Duterte said.
Also, Duterte accused Trillanes of abandoning the vision of the military and becoming corrupt.
"And now, he is taking the cudgels of the military, but he has not only abandoned the vision of the military, he became corrupt by collecting sa mga negosyante. Para siyang abogado. Alam namin 'yan kasi ang negosyante maski paano itago, magsasabi talaga yan."
Tillanes' make believe
"Ito si Trillanes, sundalong nag-make believe siya doon sa mga sundalo na he was all for the military and he never ... Ako, isang beses lang nagsabi (sa kampanya) I will double your salary, period. Ibinigay ko.
"Siya, military siya, malapit siya kay Aquino [former President Benigno Aquino III] nan diyan si Volts. Now, they say they love their fellow soldier, really? Nagpakita ba sila minsan sa Marawi [after the siege by ISIS-inspired terrorists], when a lot of my soldiers and policemen were dying?"
In one of his press conferences this week while taking refuge at the Senate premises, Trillanes said that soldiers are disgruntled by Duterte's political maneuvers, using the Armed Forces and the police, and floating the idea of a revolutionary government.
“I believe the members of the Armed Forces, the Defense department, alam nila yung lessons in history, alam nila yung mga nangyari nung martial law. Alam nila ‘yung legal at illegal order at alam nila na si Duterte hindi ito tatagal, mawawala at mawawala ito, believe me,” Trillanes said.
Duterte in response said, "Kung gusto nilang sila na, 'di kayo na. Trillanes said, 'do not follow the order of the president.' Pag ang sabi nila na sila na, sa inyo na. Bakit kayo magpatayan? I am ready to step down, any time."
Malacañang blasted last Friday Trillanes’ statement, with Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque saying, “Revolutionary government is only for those without constitutional mandate. President Duterte was duly elected and hence, constitutional.”
Trillanes is facing arrest after Duterte revoked the amnesty awarded to him by the previous administration for his alleged failure to apply for it and admit guilt.
The senator denied the accusation and presented documents showing that he complied with the requirements for the grant of amnesty.
The senator's camp has filed before the Supreme Court a motion, seeking to stop the senator's looming arrest.
Duterte, on the other hand, said he would abide what the high court's decision on the case might be. —LBG, GMA News
