Sun.Star: 9 soldiers facing coup raps transferred to Fort Bonifacio
Nine of the remaining 14 Army soldiers who are in detention for alleged involvement in a failed plot to overthrow the Arroyo administration were taken to the Army headquarters at Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City, a military spokesman said. The soldiers were transferred from their detention cell in Camp Capinpin in Tanay, Rizal, to the Custodial Management Unit at Fort Bonifacio, said Army spokesman Ernesto Torres. "The purpose (of the transfer) is to fast-track the investigation on their cases while ensuring that due process is observed. The transfer would make them readily accessible to both their counsel and Army investigators," said Torres. He said similar restrictions would be observed by the Army in the confinement of the enlisted personnel, all from the elite First Scout Ranger Regiment, while they are in the Fort Bonifacio detention facility. - Sun.Star
