Cimatu appoints new MGB Central Visayas chief
Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu has assigned an officer-in-charge for the Mines and Geosciences Bureau in Central Visayas one week after a landslide occurred in Naga City in Cebu province.
In Special Order No. 2018-794 dated Sept. 24, 2018, Cimatu appointed Engr. Efren Carido to "ensure coordination and implementation of plans and activities on the ground relative to the landslide occurrence in Naga City, Cebu.
Carido, was the Mine Safety, Environment and Social Development Division chief of MGB Region XII, will replace Loreto B. Alburo who Cimatu fired along with three other MGB Central Visayas officials.
He was instructed by Cimatu, in the same order, to "immediately clear himself of all work and property accountabilities from his present assignment, turn over the same to his successor, and report to his new assignment."
Meanwhile, in Special Order No. 2018-793 dated Sept. 24, 2018, Cimatu also ordered the reshuffling in other regional offices including the central office.
Leo Van V. Juguan, the incumbent MGB Region VI director, has been appointed as MGB Region VIII director.
Raul A. Laput, MGB Region VIII Officer-in Charge, returns to MGB Region VII as Mine Management Division OIC.
Socorro C. Oquendo, MGB REgion XI Finance and Administration Division OIC has been transferred to MGB Central Office as Planning, Policy and International Affairs OIC.
Esteban T. Martin, MGB Central Office Mine Technology Division OIC, was appointed as MGB Region III Mine Management Chief.
Teodorico A. Sandoval, MGB Central Office Safety and Health Section, Mine Safety, Health, Environment and Social Development Division Supervising Science Research Specialist, was appointed as MGB Central Office Mine Technology Division OIC. — BAP, GMA News
