Duterte promotes 2 Davao judges to Court of Appeals

President Rodrigo Duterte has promoted two judges based in Davao region to the Court of Appeals, documents released by Malacañang on Thursday showed.

Duterte appointed Bansalan, Davao del Sur Regional Trial Court Judge Loida Posadas-Kahulugan to fill in the seat left by former Justice Socorro Inting, who is now a Commission on Elections commissioner.

Davao City RTC Judge Evalyn Arellano-Morales replaced former Justice Melchor Quirino Sadang who opted for early retirement last year.

Duterte served as mayor of Davao City for two decades before he was elected president in 2016.

Posadas-Kahulugan and Arellano-Morales beat out several candidates for the CA vacancies who went through screening by the multi-sectoral Judicial and Bar Council. — Virgil Lopez/RSJ, GMA News
