Gadon uses wrong form in filing COC for senator, told to come back with right one
Lawyer Larry Gadon, who has gone viral for calling protesters in Baguio City stupid or "bobo" at the height of the Sereno impeachment process, filed his certificate of candidacy for a Senate seat on Friday.
Gadon, however, initially filed his candidacy with the wrong COC form and was told to re-file with the updated format.
"Yes, he used the wrong form," a source told GMA News Online after Gadon successfully filed his COC with the new form.
"Bumalik siya," he added.
Gadon’s mistake was confirmed by Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez.
“I spoke with our lawyer in charge [of processing his COC form], and our lawyer assured me that he initially submitted the incorrect form. Na-resolve naman agad. Nabigyan siya ng tamang form [which he submitted]. It was a small hiccup,” Jimenez said at a later press conference.
Asked about the delay and if it was caused by filling out the wrong form of COC, Gadon was initially tentative before denying that he used a wrong form.
"Meron lang kinulang na picture. Wala namang problema sa form. Kasi hindi naman nila tatanggapin kung mali 'yung form," Gadon said in a press conference.
"I initially had the old form but it was not an accomplished form," he added.
Gadon told reporters at the Comelec that he wanted to run for the Senate because there were many stupid senators.
"Ang daming bobo sa Senado e. Dapat palitan na yang mga yan," Gadon said.
He mentioned multi-term senators Franklin Drilon, Francis Pangilinan and Antonio Trillanes IV and first-termer Risa Hontiveros.
Basically the opposition, he was asked. "Yes," Gadon said.
In an interview just days ago, Gadon expressed confidence that he will win in the 2019 Senate race despite being near the tail end of the SWS and Pulse Asia surveys.
"I am very confident of winning kasi 'yung mga tao ngayon ayaw na sa mga bobo," Gadon said.
"If you will look at social media, 'di mo na maloloko ang mga tao sa paarti-artista ng mga bobo," he added.
If allowed by the Commission on Elections, this will be Gadon's second senatorial run after placing 27th in 2016.
Gadon, who filed the impeachment complaint against then Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, had predicted that he would win in the 2019 polls.
He said he was very popular in social media and gets mobbed by people everywhere he goes.
Gadon ranked 43rd to 61st in the September Pulse Asia poll.
