Lito Lapid eyes Senate comeback

Former Senator Lito Lapid filed his certificate of candidacy for senator in the coming 2019 midterm polls, marking his first Senate bid since he finished his term in June 2016.

Lapid, who served as senator from 2004 to 2016, will be seeking the post that his son and former governor Mark Lapid failed to win in 2016.

Prior to his career in politics, Lapid made a name as a movie actor. His first elective post was being Pampanga's vice governor in 1992.

Lapid is running under the Nationalist People's Coalition party.

Lapid refused to take questions from reporters. Asked if it is because he can't answer queries, he replied: "'Di nga." — Llanesca T. Panti/RSJ, GMA News
