Duterte fires Dureza’s undersecretary, assistant secretary at OPAPP
President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday announced that he had fired two officials of the Office of the Presidential Adviser for the Peace Process (OPAPP).
Speaking at the inauguration of the Bohol-Panglao International Airport (BPIA), Duterte said he dismissed OPAPP Undersecretary Ronald Flores, who is in charge of the agency's support services and national program manager of the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) program.
The President said he also dismissed OPAPP Assistant Secretary Yeshter Donn Baccay.
Later on in the same speech, Duterte said Dureza had resigned.
"In fairness to [OPAPP] Secretary [Jesus] Dureza, wala man siyang ano, maybe because he's the head of office. Itong dalawang nagkalat din," the President said.
He also said he will fire another undersecretary soon.
"Ito yung malikot, malikot itong mga ito either 'yung ginagamit mo o talagang loose canon kaya ang gobyerno hirap," Duterte said.
Flores' dismissal came a day after the President said he would remove an undersecretary over corruption allegations.
Before this, Duterte had fired Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) Falconi Millar last week for allegedly extorting money from an unidentified company in exchange for the payment of HUDCC's financial obligation.
Millar, former head of the secretariat of the inter-agency Task Force Bangon Marawi, has denied the allegations, calling it a "demolition job."
The Palace rejected Millar's claim and said the government will support any move to file criminal charges against the former housing official. —NB, GMA News
