NBI files raps vs. 4 Quezon cops over murder try of pedicab driver

The National Bureau of Investigation on Thursday filed frustrated murder complaint before the Office of the Ombudsman against four Quezon province cops over the alleged murder try of a pedicab driver.

Included in the charge sheet are Agdangan Municipal Police Office personnel Senior Police Officer 4 Wilson Villegas, Senior Police Officer 3 Noel Malabayabas, and Police Officers 2 Jhaymar Espedido and Bryan Nobo.

A civilian asset identified as Franklin ‘Aga’ Pareja was also included in the frustrated murder complaint.

Meanwhile, the chief of Agdangan Municipal Police Office Inspector Wilson Mansion is facing charges of gross neglect of duty for his failure to prevent the incident.

On November 1, pedicab driver Roger Herrero was called by Pareja for a meetup.

Herrero was at the meeting place when four cops on a black car came and allegedly abducted him.

On their way to Atimonan town, Herrero was forced to admit involvement in a robbery incident, and due to pressure, he admitted to the crime he did not do.

Upon arrival at a remote area, one of the cops got off the car dragging Herrero.

The cop shot Herrero in the face that shattered his jaw, Herrero's affidavit said.

Herrero miraculously survived the incident. When he regained consciousness, he sought help from strangers, who rushed him to Doña Marta Memorial District Hospital.

The Andangan Police belied Hererro’s claims and insisted that the operation was legitimate with the complainant as the target over a robbery incident. —Joviland Rita/LBG, GMA News
