Corpse found in Tondo creek
The body of a still unidentified person was found floating in a creek in Manila's Tondo district on Thursday morning. Radio dzBB reported that residents of Barangay (village) Bitas discovered the corpse near a slaughterhouse in Balut, Tondo. Senior Police Officer (SPO2) 2 Elmer Mauricio of the Balut Police Station said investigators have yet to determine the gender of the unidentified victim. The Manila Police District Homicide Section will conduct an investigation to determine the person's cause of death. Tondo is near Manila's Quiapo district, where several corpses were also discovered dumped in a creek in its notorious Vietnam Village. Last Tuesday, the bodies of a pregnant mother, another woman and two men were found stuffed inside a garbage plastic bag at a vacant lot in Taytay town in Rizal province. Both women were believed to be in their early twenties. The deceased mother was reported as four months pregnant. Authorities initially believed that the four died of suffocation because of the absence of blood traces or wounds on their bodies. Although the four were dumped in the area, the Taytay Police said they suspect the four to have been killed some where else, GMA News reported earlier. The motive and the suspects behind the incident have yet to be ascertained, investigators were quoted as saying. - GMANews.TV
