Explosive power of banned firecracker mutilates dressed chicken

The Philippine National Police on Monday showed how one's limbs could be severely damaged by excessively powerful illegal firecrackers.

According to Mariz Umali's report on “24 Oras” on Monday, a dressed chicken and a water melon were severely damaged after they were subjected to explosions of banned firecrackers.

This was one of the ways of the police to discourage the public from using banned firecrackers in celebrating the New Year.

“Ang paggamit ng paputok...[pag] wala pa sa oras pero pumutok na 'yan, 'yung tinatawag nating premature explosion, pwedeng mag-cause ng severe mutilation,” Senior Superintendent Manuel Placido of PNP's Explosive Management Division, said.

“'Wag na lang gumamit ng bawal na paputok,” he added.

The following firecrackers are banned even in the designated fireworks and firecracker areas:

• Large Bawang
• Pillbox
• Bosa
• Goodbye Philippines
• Bin Laden
• Mother Rocket
• Lolo Thunder
• Coke in Can
• Atomic Bomb
• Five Star
• Pla-Pla
• Giant Whistle Bomb
• Kabasi
• Watusi
