DOTr warns against scam LTO Facebook page offering online services

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Tuesday warned motorists against a fake Land Transportation Office (LTO) social media page which allegedly offers services through online transactions.

"This page, 'Land Transportation Office License Division,' is not the official account of the Land Transportation Office (LTO). This page is a SCAMMER," the DOTr said in an advisory.

The DOTr said the LTO does not transact via courier or SMS, and does not accept payments through the remittance platform SMART Padala.

Plate printing, registration, and issuance of driver's license were among the services being offered by the scam page with over 4,000 followers. It instructs the target victims to contact certain mobile numbers.

The DOTr appealed to the public to only make transactions at LTO offices and to report the said fake account to web administrators. — Dona Magsino/MDM, GMA News
