Lorenzana confirms: PMA open to tourists only on weekends, holidays

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana on Saturday confirmed that the Philippine Military Academy grounds in Baguio City is now closed to tourists during weekdays.

Asked whether PMA will be permanently closed to tourists, Lorenzana said, "No. Only during weekdays as visitors might interfere with cadet activities."

Tourists are welcome only during weekends and holidays, he added.

Meanwhile, asked for comment on lawmakers' bid to lower criminal liability age from 15 to nine years old, in the case of so-called child warriors, he said: "I approve of this lowering (of criminal liability age)."

"It used to be such in the 1935 Constitution. Other countries also have that age of criminal liability. This law will compel parents to supervise and discipline their kids properly," he added. —LBG, GMA News
