P90M worth of shabu placed in mufflers seized — BOC

Operatives from the Bureau of Customs (BOC) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Tuesday seized P90 million worth of suspected shabu placed inside three mufflers at Port of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

According to a Balitanghali report by GMA News' Jun Veneracion, Customs examiners inspected the shipment after they had found it suspicious. When authorities opened the package, they discovered 13.1 kilograms of suspected shabu.

The report said the shipment arrived in the country on December 23, 2018 from California, United States of America (USA).

PDEA agents claimed that the shabu possibly came from Mexico and passed through the US border.

No one claimed the said package, the report said.

Authorities also said the name of the declared consignee might be fake.

The contraband was already turned over to PDEA, according to the report. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
